Monitoring Audio in GarageBand

This allows you to hear the music being played through any external speaker when using a USB Adapter

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Plug-In USB Adapter...

    into your computer so that GarageBand can "see" it.

  2. Connect your Sound source...

    to "red" port on USB Adapter and start playing music. Keep the volume low, you don't want to be startled :)

  3. Open GarageBand


  4. Select "New Project", "Empty Project" and click "Create"


  5. In "Choose a Track Type"...

    • Select the "Microphone"
    • Select "Input 1" under "Input"
    • Check "I want to hear my instrument..."
    • Select "USB Audio Device" next to "My instrument is connected with:"
    • Select "USB Audio Device" next to "I hear sound from:"
    • Click "Create"

  6. Feedback Protection

    • If your GarageBand displays a checkbox for "Feedback Protection", uncheck it.
    • If at any point in time the "Feedback Protection" window opens up, select "No Feedback Protection".
    • Also, make sure your speaker is not close to your laptop and make sure your in Zoom is set to external microphone.
